We were selected as one of two finalist teams to provide design feasibility studies for the Sing Sing Prison Museum. The plan is to house a new museum on the history of prisons inside the abandoned Physical Plant adjacent to the operational maximum security Prison.

We focused first on demonstrating the challenges (and solutions) for gaining access to this remote and complicated site. Visitors arriving on foot from Metro North or from town have a long walk. The current high-security entrance road is along the same one-lane road as the general public, which poses a problem.

We showed the client that prior to any design work on the existing structures, site access and where to park would be their priority. Successful site access will determine the level of success of this project.
